Making a wedding card box is really no different than making any other kind of box. You can do the entire process is if you were making a jewelry box, and then just cut a slot for the cards.
I like to make my boxes all in one piece, and then cut the lid off in the end. Make the box as large as you want, and constructed entirely without any openings.
Once you’re finished, set the fence on the tablesaw to allow enough room to cut off your lid, and make four passes to carefully free the lid from the box.
After that, use a router or make a drop cut on the table saw to create a slot in the top of the lid. Attach some hinges to allow the lid open close, and then add a hasp on the front side for your lock.
This is a pretty straightforward project, and you can save a little bit of money over a store bought wedding card box by making it yourself.
