In general, is it hard to make a guitar? When compared to other woodworking projects, is there anything about making a guitar that makes it especially difficult?

A guitar is nothing more than a woodworking project. You make a guitar from wood, with some metal bits to finish it out. This is the same as any other project, and nothing to be afraid of.

So many people hold off on making their guitar because they think the project will be much ore difficult than other projects that they have done. It’s really not, and you can be successful on the first try.

If you are serious about making guitars, I recommend buying a couple good books on Amazon and reading them cover to cover. This will familiarize you with the process, so there will be less surprises.

Then, I recommend making the tools and jigs you will need first. This way, you won’t have to stop all the time to make little helper projects.

The momentum will be on your side the entire time you build, and you will see the project unfold right in front of you.

It’s a real pleasure to make a guitar, and you definitely do not need any skills that you don’t already have from woodworking. They are one and the same.

Happy building.
