Steel Wool and Vinegar Ukulele

I am working on a ukulele and plan on using steel wool and vinegar method.

I would love to have a matte or satin finish.

Do you recommend a wax or anything to put over the homemade stain?

The steel wool and vinegar staining method allows you to use about any top coat that you want after the process is complete, and the instrument is fully dry.

Once that happens, you can use a lacquer, oil, or wax, and any method you prefer will be fine.

Since the steel wool method is not a product that lingers behind like other stains or coloring methods do, you have more freedom in your choice of top coats, and I recommend finishing the ukulele in the same way that ukuleles are normally finished.

This way, you will not have to worry about your finish, and you know you will have good results that are consistent with the style.

Happy building.
